Preceptors

Iowa law requires that each funeral director who has a student or intern working under his / her supervision complete a preceptor training. In addition, accreditation standards require that funeral directors serving as preceptors receive on-campus training and/or a preceptor manual from the program.

To meet the requirements of both the Iowa rules and accreditation standards, DMACC has developed a Preceptor training program.

The preceptor training may be completed in 3 ways:

• Attend a preceptor training session which is offered at least once per year and is announced in the program news.
• Request a DVD copy of the training and after completing the video training, submit a quiz to the program for verification. To request a copy of the DVD along with a Preceptor Manual and Quiz, please email the Mortuary Science Program Chair at kepatterson@dmacc.edu.
• Complete the Preceptor Training Online.
